House Concert: Malcolm Holcombe (North Carolina) with special guest Nic Landon and friends, Friday, June 14

lowressmallmalcolmMalcolm Holcombe  Country Blues~Americana

“Haunted country, acoustic blues and rugged folk all meet [here]…”     —Rolling Stone

Born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, Malcolm Holcombe is being recognized by the contemporary U.S and European folk/Americana community as a performer of national stature and an uncommonly unique guitarist/vocalist.

If you’ve not seen him in a live setting, this is what you have to do. His presence is spooky and timeless, as one imagines it was like to see Son House or Leadbelly. No emotional stone is left unturned. http://malcolmholcombe.com

With special guest Nic Landon playing old time guitar rags and minstrel banjo tunes. This young man teaches at McPharlin Music right here in Harmony and is quite a talent. I’m sure you will find him very entertaining providing musical arrangements seldom heard in the contemporary era.

About Harry Price:
Harry has established a reputation as an experimental potter and sculptor, emphasizing versatility and solid craftstmanship. Studying under Frans Wildenhain at Rochester Institute of Technology, The School for American Craftsmen, Harry developed the ability to produce lightweight and full-blown shapes in pottery, often inspired by Chinese Sung Dynasty artists and traditional American potters. Harry’s ceramic sculptures often follow whimsical themes and mythological creatures and humorous portraits. He builds his own kilns, creates his own glazes and often incorporates wood, forged iron, found and recycled implements in his artworks. Harry is also an inspiring teacher with many classes to his credit at North Hills Art Center, LaRoche College, the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts, and in his own studio.

About Paul Camp:
Paul Camp is a retired professor of fine arts and English from the Community College of Beaver County, where he taught for 38 years. In addition to all the studio courses in drawing, painting and design, Paul taught many liberal arts courses in art history, art appreciation, literature of the Bible, mythology, literature for children, Shakespeare and English Composition. Pedagogically, he believes that a creative mind is best supported with a well-rounded education. Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in General Education/Art History at the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in English at Slippery Rock University. He is primarily a painter but often delves into graphics, photography and sculpture.
