June 15: Community Drum Circle 7-9pm, #orlandostrong

Posted on 15 June 2016 (0)

announcement bb smEvery month, Bottlebrush: A Gallery for the Arts hosts a drum circle led by Annie Mathe and Pat Bauer. The purpose of a drum circle is many-fold, but mainly for people to come together and raise energy and conciousness… to find peace and enjoy a safe place, together. If you haven’t participated in a drum circle, you must. It’s an incredibly moving, peaceful experience.

In light of the horrific events in Orlando, we’ve decided to dedicate this month’s circle to the shooting victims and their families.

Please join us for a free, open community drum at our Gallery Wednesday evening, June 15, from 7-9pm. Drums and other percussion instruments will be provided.  This is a time for us to stand together and support each other. Please come and be a part of this circle of love.

RSVP appreciated, walk-ins welcome. Snacks and beverages served.

Apr 22: House Concert – Grammy Nominees Eric Brace & Peter Cooper (Nashville)

Posted on 13 April 2016 (0)

bracecooper

Grammy nominees Eric Brace & Peter Cooper have created a body of work that reflects their journalistic sensibilities, a love of harmony and wry humor, and their deep respect for the masters that inspired them and whom they’ve played with.

“The November 2014 show featuring the Nashville duo of Eric Brace and Peter Cooper presented two musicians who were so in sync with each other that even their between song banter seemed to harmonize. The show was harmony at its purest. Their voices and guitars blended together perfectly, demonstrating to the appreciative crowd that music can be rich and full and remarkably simple at the same time. The intricacies of the harmonies indicate that a lot of wood-shedding and hard work went into arranging and learning them, yet the delivery was so natural it seemed like they were made up on the spot. These are obviously two guys who love what they do and spend as much time as they possibly can doing it.” –Bruce Hoffman

Apr 8: House Concert – Chad Elliott with special guest Chris Milholland

Chad Elliott bought his first guitar at an Omaha pawn shop, a dreadnought next to the used guns and knives. He took it home, slowly taught himself to fingerpick and began transposing his poetry writing into original songs. Chad is a fine crafter of wonderful story songs in a richly poetic fashion. His stage presence and guitar styling complement his work and will make you want to hear even more of him.

Chris Milholland is a local guitarist and one of the regulars around town. You may know him best for the incredible masonry work at the Harmony Inn, but you will know him better when you sit and listen to his guitar work.
