It’s time for some love– and our 3rd annual Valentines Party and Fundraiser for the Butler County Humane Society! Come out for our family-friendly Valentine’s party and help our abandoned and homeless animals at the same time. No charge for admission… we only ask that you bring food, toys or supplies donations for the animals. Happy New Year’s from Harmony, PA. Photos from our annual “Silvester” event, which is the German town’s celebration of New Year’s Eve.  Face Painting by Christina for big and little kids alike, a 5k and Fun Run, traditional food and drinks, treats for pets by Christine Galket, German countdown and ball drop at 6pm (midnight in Germany!), singing of Auld Lang Syne, and fireworks. All of the shops in town are open, including the Gallery– and we all have our heat on, so come in and keep warm. And when it’s all done, you’ll be home in time to celebrate New Year’s — again. 🙂  A blessed and joyous 2014 to everyone from Bottlebrush Gallery.

With 85 local artists’ work on display and a wide range of prices, you will find something for anyone on your list. Visit our year-round Christmas by the Creek shop featuring holiday-themed art and crafted items by our artists, and vintage (antique) Christmas ornaments and memorabilia. Shown below, vintage ornament art, breast cancer awareness theme Christmas tree, glass cheese plate with knife and coasters by Don Allaman, and a sewing or quilting themed Christmas tree.

Pittsburgh artists Kim Friethaler, June Kielty, Nadya Lapets and Vickie Schilling opening night this Friday, October 18, from 7-9pm, at the Bottlebrush. No admission charge. Refreshments will be served. Live music by singer-songwriter Sally Zehmisch of Cranberry Township. The artist group brought in their work for their show, and it is breathtaking. A Female Perpective will be on display from Friday, October 18 through Thursday, October 31.

Mixed Media Technique Class Series:  Sundays:  September 22, October 27, November 24, from 2-3:30pm. Ages 10 and up. $25 includes all materials and snacks. In this workshop held on the 4th Sunday of the month will learn a different mixed media technique. These techniques can then be applied to your own projects such as on furniture, panels,ATC cards and in journals to name a few. Possibilities are endless.

Give Thanks: Mixed Media piece. Sunday, October 6, 2-4pm. Ages 14 and up. $40 includes all materials and snacks. In this one time class create a finished 6″ x 6″ mixed media piece on a basswood panel. We will work with paint.paper. stamping and some of your own hand work. You may choose to include the words “Give Thanks” or just leave the fall pumpkin the focus. This will make a wonderful gift for the Thanksgiving Cook- yourself included!

Snowman Ornament Gift Holder. Sunday, December 1, 2-4pm. Ages 7 and up. $25 includes all materials. In this one time class we will be creating a  portrait of a snowman on a pocket.This would be a great Parent/Child activity to do together.  It would make a great wall decoration, an ornament and/or filled with a few goodies, a gift card or piece of jewelry to name a few ideas.  

Holiday Mixed Media. Sunday, December 8, 2-4pm. Ages 14 and up. $40 includes all materials. In this one time class create a finished 6″ x 6″ mixed media piece on a basswood panel. We will work with paint.paper. stamping and some of your own hand work to create this one of a kind original. Keep it for yourself or would make a special gift.

Act Up! Children’s Theatre: Ages 9-15.

Saturdays, 1-3:30pm, September 21 through December 21. $10 per session.

A fun and spirited class designed for children and pre-teens that teaches the basics of improvisational acting. Our class meets monthly and will include puppets, warm-up exercises, creative performance with games, and an improv skit using simple costumes and props.

Conga Drumming: Basics and Intermediate  Ages 14 to Adult.

Mondays, 6-7:30pm, September 16-October 21. $90 for 6 weeks includes use of drums. 

Explore the exciting world of Afro-Cuban and Latin Rhythms in a fun and friendly atmosphere. A 6 week, fully interactive class designed for beginners and experienced drummers alike. We will cover: Technique, Clave, Tumbao, Calypso, Rumba, Guaguanco, Abakwa and Practice Methods. $90 for 6 weeks, includes use of drums. Taught by experienced drummer Bryan Fazio. Slippery Rock University Student Art Show Opening Night Reception:  September 13, 7-9pm. Edgy and thought-provoking, always a phenomenal show!

Opening reception and exhibit  features artists Chelsea Burton, Constance Briggs, Maria Camera, Darrellyn Dickey, Chelsea Grubbs and Barbara Westman, Assistant Professor of Fibers and Printmaking.  Refreshments will be served. No admission fee.

“5+1 Fibers Exhibition” will be on display from Sept. 13-Sept. 20, 11am-4pm, with the exception of Monday, Sept. 16, when the Gallery is closed.

Our second week of’ summer art classes for young artists is ready! Topics include:  Improv for Kids- Photography – Chain Maille Bracelets – Mask Making – Drum and Draw Workshop – Abstract Painting – Dinosaur Fossil Making – Basket Weaving.
