Bottlebrush Gallery & Center for the Arts

We’ve been busy adding art and spiritual improvement classes to our calendar for both adults and children/youth. Art classes include Mixed Media Techniques and “Twisted Lines,” artist Susan Walker’s take on zen doodles.

We’re also offering drumming classes. Bryan Fazio is teaching his Conga Drumming course, in addition to his popular one-evening Drum~Write~Draw.  Jim Donovan returns to the Bottlebrush this spring, presenting his Spring Renewal and Rejuvenation Series, 5 weeks of spiritual and creative refreshment using drums. Other ongoing favorites include our Songwriters in Harmony workshop, “Time for Me” A Women’s Creative Circle, Debbie Smith Wagner’s Bottlebrush Improv and Acting class for ages 9-15 with Auditioning activities added–  and the return of Harmony Ink, a monthly creative writing workshop.

Come out for our family-friendly Valentine’s party and help our abandoned and homeless animals at the same time. No charge for admission… we only ask that you bring food, toys or supplies donations for the animals. Since their debut in 2010 The Womack Family Band has captivated audiences all over the eastern U.S. with their spot-on three part vocal harmony, tight musicianship, and neo-classic songwriting. Happy New Year’s from Harmony, PA. Photos from our annual “Silvester” event, which is the German town’s celebration of New Year’s Eve.  Face Painting by Christina for big and little kids alike, a 5k and Fun Run, traditional food and drinks, treats for pets by Christine Galket, German countdown and ball drop at 6pm (midnight in Germany!), singing of Auld Lang Syne, and fireworks. All of the shops in town are open, including the Gallery– and we all have our heat on, so come in and keep warm. And when it’s all done, you’ll be home in time to celebrate New Year’s — again. 🙂  A blessed and joyous 2014 to everyone from Bottlebrush Gallery.

Pittsburgh artists Kim Friethaler, June Kielty, Nadya Lapets and Vickie Schilling opening night this Friday, October 18, from 7-9pm, at the Bottlebrush. No admission charge. Refreshments will be served. Live music by singer-songwriter Sally Zehmisch of Cranberry Township. The artist group brought in their work for their show, and it is breathtaking. A Female Perpective will be on display from Friday, October 18 through Thursday, October 31.

Mixed Media Technique Class Series:  Sundays:  September 22, October 27, November 24, from 2-3:30pm. Ages 10 and up. $25 includes all materials and snacks. In this workshop held on the 4th Sunday of the month will learn a different mixed media technique. These techniques can then be applied to your own projects such as on furniture, panels,ATC cards and in journals to name a few. Possibilities are endless.

Give Thanks: Mixed Media piece. Sunday, October 6, 2-4pm. Ages 14 and up. $40 includes all materials and snacks. In this one time class create a finished 6″ x 6″ mixed media piece on a basswood panel. We will work with paint.paper. stamping and some of your own hand work. You may choose to include the words “Give Thanks” or just leave the fall pumpkin the focus. This will make a wonderful gift for the Thanksgiving Cook- yourself included!

Snowman Ornament Gift Holder. Sunday, December 1, 2-4pm. Ages 7 and up. $25 includes all materials. In this one time class we will be creating a  portrait of a snowman on a pocket.This would be a great Parent/Child activity to do together.  It would make a great wall decoration, an ornament and/or filled with a few goodies, a gift card or piece of jewelry to name a few ideas.  

Holiday Mixed Media. Sunday, December 8, 2-4pm. Ages 14 and up. $40 includes all materials. In this one time class create a finished 6″ x 6″ mixed media piece on a basswood panel. We will work with paint.paper. stamping and some of your own hand work to create this one of a kind original. Keep it for yourself or would make a special gift.

Act Up! Children’s Theatre: Ages 9-15.

Saturdays, 1-3:30pm, September 21 through December 21. $10 per session.

A fun and spirited class designed for children and pre-teens that teaches the basics of improvisational acting. Our class meets monthly and will include puppets, warm-up exercises, creative performance with games, and an improv skit using simple costumes and props.

Conga Drumming: Basics and Intermediate  Ages 14 to Adult.

Mondays, 6-7:30pm, September 16-October 21. $90 for 6 weeks includes use of drums. 

Explore the exciting world of Afro-Cuban and Latin Rhythms in a fun and friendly atmosphere. A 6 week, fully interactive class designed for beginners and experienced drummers alike. We will cover: Technique, Clave, Tumbao, Calypso, Rumba, Guaguanco, Abakwa and Practice Methods. $90 for 6 weeks, includes use of drums. Taught by experienced drummer Bryan Fazio.
