The second weekend of every year, Historic Harmony celebrates its German roots and transforms into a German Christmas Market or Weihnachtsmarkt. From Charleston, West Virginia, Blue Yonder is a band that takes strands of early country music – swing, honky-tonk, bluegrass and rockabillly – and weaves them together with award-winning original compositions and a contemporary feel.
Blue Yonder features three seasoned musicians, each with distinctive and notable skills: singer and songwriter John Lilly, national guitar champion Robert Shafer, and bassist Will Carter. Our Halloween art show this year is “After Dark: The Lost Stories” by Slippery Rock University alum and Pittsburgh native Dan Sennaway. “After Dark” is part of Harmony’s annual “Sleepy Hollow Festival,” a fall festival held in conjunction with neighboring town Zelienople. Please visit the Gallery and experience Dan’s digital illustrations and stories of abandoned buildings and places from his past. Fantastic!
We are proud to host two exhibits this October. The first is “Book-Not-Book,” an exhibition of unique and handmade books created by students in the Fiber Art Studios at Slippery Rock University and Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland. The collaboration between these studios has spanned 4 years, initiated by Barbara Westman, Associate Professor of Art at SRU. Every year, students from both schools work on the same assignment and, later, both collections of artworks are presented in an exhibition in Poland and in the US. It is a unique opportunity for the students involved and for the community to see how the same assignment can be interpreted by students from different countries and cultures. The exhibit will be on display from October 6-October 20. There is no admission charge.

Please join us for a timely holiday opening night/show on Friday, June 23, from 6-8pm. “American Flags Done in Denim” by Brenda Gruber, 2015 graduate of Slippery Rock University The show will feature flags made from upcycled denim using dye, bleach, paint and upcycled denim including jeans. We’re also collecting food donations for the Southwest Butler Food Cupboard that night. Stop by the Gallery between 5-8pm and drop off your non-perishable food or monetary donations. Art week for 2017 starts June 19!
Our summer classes for children and youth are taught by our practicing artists and experienced teachers.
This year, we are offering: palette knife painting, watercolor pencil project drawing baby birds, mixed media project (collage, paint, found objects) using your pet as a subject and machine felting to make an alpaca wall hanging, beginning knitting, and collage to name a few. Looking forward to a week of art with you.
NEWLY ADDED – Art Journaling for teens, Bug Highway Mixed Media for 5-8 year olds, and Cupcake-a-Palooza… Cupcake decorating class for kids by Tin Man Sweets! Ages 6-10 and 11-18.

A Gallery representative will confirm/complete registration and process payment, which is required at the time of registration. Parents also must complete a consent form for their child upon registration or at the class meeting time.
