3rd Friday Event: “Taking Notice” by Stacey Hogue

Posted on 09 June 2011 (0)

Friday June 17th, 6pm

Show runs through July 10th!

“Taking Notice”

By Stacey Hogue of Grove City, PA

“For lack of attention, a thousand forms of loveliness elude us every day.”

Stacey Hogue is a native of Georgia and now lives in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She works in watercolor, acrylic, assemblage, and collage. The running theme of Stacey’s work is redemption in its many guises. She is inspired by beauty and wants to convey what she sees with the inner meaning it portrays to her. For Stacey, the creative process is cathartic. The journey began with an initial desire to express beauty and has become a telling of her own story, what it means, and how her past informs her present. Faith and spirituality play a large part. Her hope is that her art will establish a connection, that it will be strong and instantaneous, that it will cut through to a meaningful place in the heart of the viewer.

We are very excited to offer the region’s first House Concert Series, Harmony in the House, with our kickoff show featuring Phil Lee, Tom Mason and local artist Jeff Wiley.

What are house concerts?

Small venue, intimate, live performances for all ages, featuring acoustic, folk, and singer/songwriters. Harmony in the House is booking traveling acts, many from the Nashville area, as they pass through our region, providing low-cost entertainment by performers ordinarily seen only in large venues and cities. With the support of the regional music-loving community, we will bring you a consistently high-caliber, diverse group of performers monthly at a reasonable cost.

The house concerts will begin at 7:00 PM and end around 10:00 PM, at the Bottlebrush Gallery in Harmony, PA. Stay as long as you’d like! We can all be home by bedtime, or go to the Harmony Inn for a late supper afterwards. Non-alcoholic refreshments, and snacks will be provided at the concert venue for low prices.

This promises to be a fine show, continue reading below for the details and full description. We hope you will join us!

Phil Lee. This North Carolina-born Nashvillian isn’t your typical musician. For one thing, most artists don’t release debut records at such a seasoned age. For another, few singers have experience long-hauling 18-wheelers across the country. If anything, Lee’s long teeth have removed all pretense and preciousness from his music; instead, he attacks his tough twang with fire and vitality, putting forth rumbling rockabilly, garage country, and full-on rock swagger. He writes constantly, eats a sensible diet and, peripatetic as heck, he won’t hesitate to jump in his pickup for a gig in Wisconsin on a Friday, cannonball from there to Missouri on Saturday, and hit Indiana on Sunday – after church of course.http://www.phillee1.com/

Tom Mason is a fine guitarist, a sizzling slide player and multi-instrumentalist, a seasoned actor, and a passionate songwriter. Above all, Mason is an entertainer, eager to share his lust for life every time he straps on a guitar or hits the stage. Since arriving in Nashville in 1993, Mason has established himself as a favorite in nightclubs and studios. With his new CD Alchemy, Tom Mason draws on all his talents to create a work filled with magic. http://www.tommason.net

A locally popular singer/songwriter, those who know Jeff Wiley’s work will recognize his signature acoustical guitar resonance, expressive vocals, bright harmonies, and lyrics that balance ironic humor against melancholy.
